What eyelash extensions are
Eyelash extensions are fine synthetic fibres attached to your own lashes, one natural lash at a time, with an adhesive made for lashes. They sit about a millimetre away from the eyelid, so nothing is glued to the skin. The result is lashes that look longer and fuller from the moment you wake up, with no mascara and no curler.
They are not the same as strip lashes or the clusters sold for home use. Those are stuck across several lashes at once and come off within days. A professional set is built lash by lash and follows the direction your own lashes grow in. It then sheds gradually, as each natural lash reaches the end of its cycle.
At BeCammo there are three styles. Brazilian classic (€60, in black or brown) is the light, delicate set for an everyday natural look. Mix lashes (€70) combine classic and volume lashes for a fuller result that still looks natural. Brazilian volume (€80) is the dramatic one, and is also chosen by clients whose own lashes are short and thin. All three are available at both our salons, in Sliema and in Swieqi.
Who eyelash extensions are for
Extensions suit most people who want more length or fullness than their own lashes give them. They are popular with clients who are tired of applying mascara every morning, who have short, fair or sparse lashes, or who want their eyes to look done for a wedding or a holiday without thinking about it. In a Maltese summer there is also no mascara to run in the heat or at the beach.
They are not the right choice for everyone. Tell us before your appointment and we will advise if you:
- have an eye infection, a stye, or irritated or broken skin on the eyelids;
- have reacted to lash adhesive, plasters or cosmetic glue before;
- have had recent eye surgery;
- are pregnant or breastfeeding;
- rub your eyes a lot, since extensions do not cope well with that.
Honest about what your lashes can carry. The length and thickness of an extension should match the strength of the natural lash it sits on. If the length you have in mind is more than your lashes can hold, a lighter choice will look better and last longer. We tell you that before we start, not after.
How it is done at BeCammo, step by step
- Consultation and lash checkWe look at your natural lashes: their length, thickness and direction, and any gaps. We ask how you want to look and whether you wear glasses or contact lenses.
- Choosing the style and lengthClassic, mix or volume first, then the length and the curl of the extensions. For Brazilian classic you also choose between black and brown. You know what is planned before anything is applied.
- Cleansing and protectingYour lashes are cleansed so the adhesive can hold properly. The lower lashes are covered with soft pads, so upper and lower lashes cannot stick together. From here on your eyes stay closed.
- Application, lash by lashOne natural lash is isolated at a time and the extensions are placed on it. This is the long part of the appointment. Most clients find it relaxing, and some fall asleep.
- Check and brush throughThe pads come off, we check that no lashes are stuck to each other, brush the set into place and hand you the mirror.
- Aftercare and refill planYou leave knowing how to look after your lashes and when to come back for a refill.
Please arrive with clean lashes and no eye make-up, and take out contact lenses before we begin. Brazilian classic and mix lashes are booked as two-hour appointments. Brazilian volume is booked for three hours, because there is more to apply.

Before and after your appointment
Before
Come without mascara, eyeliner or oily eye cream, and skip the lash curler that day. If you wear contact lenses, bring your case and your glasses. You will be lying down with your eyes closed for two to three hours, so wear something comfortable.
The first day or two
The adhesive needs time to set fully. Keep your lashes away from water, steam, saunas and heavy sweating, usually for the first 24 to 48 hours. We will tell you the exact time for your set.
After that, a few habits make the biggest difference to how long the set lasts:
- Keep oil away from the lash line. Oil-based cleansers, make-up removers and rich eye creams weaken the adhesive.
- Wash them. Clean your lashes gently with a lash-safe foam cleanser and rinse. Clean extensions usually hold better than ones that are never washed.
- Brush, do not rub. Brush through with a clean lash brush each morning and pat dry after washing.
- Skip mascara and curlers on the extensions. They do not need either.
- Do not pick or pull. An extension that is pulled off takes the natural lash with it.
Being a little aware of your lashes on the first day is normal. If you notice redness, swelling or itching that does not settle, message us straight away.
How long they last, refills and removal
Each extension is attached to one natural lash, and natural lashes shed all the time. Most people lose a few every day without noticing. When a lash falls, its extension goes with it. That is why a set thins out gradually instead of ending on a fixed date. How fast it thins depends on your own lash cycle, on your skin (oily eyelids usually mean a shorter hold) and on how closely you follow the aftercare.
Refill. A refill fills the gaps, so the set looks full and even again. At BeCammo it can be done up to 15 days after your set, and it costs half the price of the full set you chose: €30 for Brazilian classic, €35 for mix lashes and €40 for Brazilian volume. The appointment takes about 1 h 30. The easiest way to keep your lashes full is to book the refill before you leave the salon.
Removal. If you want a break from extensions, or want to change style, book a professional removal: €10, about 30 minutes. A cream remover dissolves the adhesive and the extensions slide off without pulling on your own lashes. It is also the first step if you arrive with a set done at another salon. Please do not try to take them off at home.
Extensions, or just a lift?
Both treatments give you lashes that look good without daily effort, but they work in different ways.
Eyelash extensions
Fibres are added to your lashes, so you gain length and fullness that you do not have naturally. You decide how soft or how full the set is. They need a refill to stay full and some care at home.
Lash lift
Nothing is added. Your own lashes are curled upwards from the root, which makes them look longer. A lash lift at BeCammo costs €50, takes about 1 h 30 and lasts around three to four weeks, with no refills.
As a rule of thumb: if your own lashes have a good length and you want a natural result with little upkeep, a lift is usually enough. If you want more lashes than you have, extensions are the way to get them.
Brows frame the same area, so it makes sense to plan them together. You can book eyebrow threading or brow lamination at the same salon.

Eyelash Extensions: questions clients ask
How much are eyelash extensions in Malta?
At BeCammo, Brazilian classic lashes (black or brown) cost €60, mix lashes €70 and Brazilian volume €80. A refill within 15 days costs half the price of your set (€30, €35 or €40) and removal is €10.
How long does the appointment take?
Brazilian classic and mix lashes are booked for two hours, Brazilian volume for three. A refill takes about 1 h 30 and a removal about 30 minutes.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
Extensions fall out with your natural lashes, a few at a time, so the set thins out gradually. To keep it full, book a refill within 15 days of your set.
Do eyelash extensions damage your natural lashes?
Applied one natural lash at a time, with a weight your lashes can carry, they should not. Damage usually comes from pulling extensions off, rubbing the eyes or wearing a set that is too heavy.
Does getting eyelash extensions hurt?
It should not hurt. You lie down with your eyes closed while the lashes are applied, and most clients find it relaxing. If you feel any stinging, tell us straight away.
Can you remove extensions that were done somewhere else?
Yes. Lash removal costs €10 and takes about 30 minutes. A cream remover is used, so your own lashes are not pulled. It is the usual first step before a new set.
